About Me Quilt
Submitted by Cindy
What You Need:
- Pictures
- Construction or Scrapbooking Materials
- Paint
- Poster Board
- Yarn
What You Do:
- Ask parents to send a few snapshots of the child and his/her family. Scan the pictures and print them off (return the originals to the parents). Select a variety of scrapbooking materials and make it available for the children, encourage them to design a quilt block anyway they want and have the scanned pictures there for them to glue on 9" X 12" poster board. After their blocks are dry, laminate and make hole punches around each one. Have children to lace yarn through the hole punches with their friends and tie them together. Make a special wall for the new classroom family quilt and make it eye level for the children to see. Keep this up year round and if a new friend comes to new room, add his/her quilt block.
