Make Your Own Duck Nest
Submitted by Gayle
Provide you students with mud, sticks, grass, leaves, twigs, pine needles, and pebbles. Let you kids create their own bird nest. Later you can talk about why birds use these things in order to keep their eggs warm.
Duck Feathers
Submitted by Leslie
Collect Duck feathers (or other bird) from the local park or petting zoo. Show your children how the feathers repel water by putting them on the table and squirting a small amount of water on them
A Dinosaur Egg
Submitted by Tonya
Put a boiled egg into vinegar for several weeks. The egg will become soft and leathery like a real dinosaur egg might have felt. You can carefully take it out and let your children feel a "real" dinosaur egg.
Just How big were dinosaurs?
Submitted by Mindy
Make a people graph to find out. Have children measure out a dinosaur's length using yardsticks. Stretch a string the length of the dinosaurs.

Get your class to lie head-to-toe along the measured area. Count How many children it takes to make a dinosaurs length.

A second way to do this is by seeing how many of your children's footprints could fit into a dinosaurs footprint.
Real Chinese Dragon
Submitted by Lisa
Show your students many pictures of dragons from different cultures. Then explain to them that in the Chinese culture dragons are seen as helpful beings. Cut holes in a trash can for eyes (or use a small laundry basket) then create a dragon head. Then have your children use the ovals as dragon scales. Next attach a sheet to the dragon head and let your children glue, tape, or staple the ovals on the dragon. Now several can get under the sheet, with one in the trash can, and pretend to be a Chinese Dragon
