Description:

Based on the author's own experience, I Already Know I Love You describes the cavalcade of feelings that comes with being a grandfather for the very first time. Beginning with anticipating the new baby's arrival, this book celebrates all the moments, great and small, that a new grandpa is ready to share. Whether it's taking a nap together or rooting for the Yankees, this grandpa just can't wait. Lush and dreamy pastels complement the heartfelt text, and together they celebrate all the joy a brand-new baby brings to the world.

Billy's heart is wide open.
Billy's heart is wide open. Like every good first time grandpa, he eagerly anticipates his grandchild and imagines all the things they will do together. "On the inside cover Billy writes, "I can't believe I'm writing this 'cause I don't know who you are." However, the title says it all, "I already know I love you." Crystal has written a really enjoyable, touching, and sentimental story. The illustrations are soft and dreamy. This storybook is a keeper.

Beautiful!
Beautiful story and illustrations! A bedtime must! As a grandparent of 7, I also highly recommend "The GigANTic Little Hero," "HumbleBee," and "The Non-Praying Mantis" by Matt Whitlock.

Great gift for a grandfather to send
The title and the book are EXCELLENT! My wife and I had to move away from home, sent this book to our daughter and she was thrilled! Since we are from Boston, the only problem was a reference to the Yankees ... but, this may be our year!

Touching
As a mother of two youngish children, I loved this book! It was a touching read and some parts nearly brought me to tears. The illustrations are superb! Billy Crytal has written a book that is a treasure for parents and grandparents. Debbie Farmer, author 'Don't Put Lipstick on the Cat'

Touched with love
It is now Billy Crystal's turn to produce a children's book. But this one is different, since it reflects his own experience as a first-time expectant grandfather and is dedicated to his first grandchild Ella. As Grandpa awaits the birth of his grandchild, he dreams of all the things they will share. He envisions them going to the beach, the zoo, a ball game, and the movies. He imparts his wisdom about telling the truth and tying shoes. Together they fly kites, go out to eat, and go fishing. The rhymed verse is phrased in an awkward meter, but nevertheless it reverberates with love, tenderness, and a sense of humor. The soft illustrations depict the imagined activities between grandfather and grandchild, where the child is portrayed at different ages and genders.

Is this a story for an adult or a child? I think the expectant parent or grandparent will appreciate the sentiments more than a young child, since it is written from an adult's point of view and since it has no chronological story line for the child to follow. When shared between a grandparent and grandchild, however, it is certain to impress the child with just how special he/she is in a grandparent's eyes.

for every grandpa-to-be
Even on the inside covers of I ALREADY KNOW I LOVE YOU, Billy Crystal tells of his delights as he awaits his grandchild's birth: "I'm waiting to see you in ballet shoes, or is it football pads?..."

Rebeccasreads highly recommends I ALREADY KNOW I LOVE YOU, with its charming images by Elizabeth Sayles, as a perfect book for Grandpas-to-be. It is filled with fun & hugs & ways to welcome your grandchild, of either gender, into your family & the world.

I Aready Knew I Would Love This Book!
I Already Know I Love You, written by the comedian and versatile everything man, Billy Crystal, is a love letter to Crystals first grandchild -- the daughter of his daughter and Mr. Crystal's granddaughter. In this small book Mr. Crystal speaks volumes as he describes what he plans to do with his granddaughter. And as the author's feelings of joy gush from the pages as he explains he knew he already loved this child, the reader can't help but be caught up in these words. This is a wonderful gift and book to read for parents, grandparents and children of all ages.

Thank you Mr. Crystal for expressing how every grandparent feels the moment they hear, "You're going to be a grandparent." And I bet no matter how many grandchildren people have, they always feel as though they already know they will love them too.

I highly recommend this book. The next best thing to seeing Mr. Crystal on television, in a movie or during a live performance.

must buy for future grandfathers
We gave this book to my father-in-law for his birthday and used it as a way to tell him and the family we were expecting. It brought tears to everyone's eyes. Everyone who read the book loved it. The sentiments are perfect for the anticipation of a little one.

A wonderful read about being a grandparent
I absolutely loved this book! The grandfather-to-be talks about what activities he will do with his new granddaughter. Then he talked about when his daughter was young and the things they did together.I especially liked the part where he said that he took her to the movie and he didn't watch the movie, but instead he watched his daughter's face. It was a touching read. It nearly brought me to tears. The illustrations are superb! This would be a great book for the parent-to-be. Bravo to Billy Crystal!

I love this book!
I am giving this book to my father and my father in law (a gift on the arrival of my new baby for her wonderful papaws); this book is so sweet and what a tear jerker. Who new Billy Crystal isn't only funny, he is a great writer.

a winner
I gave this book to my dad to let him know he was going to be a grandpa for the first time. Although my baby is not born yet, I can't wait for him to be able to read it to him/her. It is well written and colorful. When they are able to understand the concept, it will explain to the child how much they were loved before they ever entered the world.

My daughters favorite book
This is my 5 year olds favorite. This was not even a gift from her grandpa, but we picked it up because it looked so sweet. This is the book she used to ask for every night, and from listening as we read along, this is also her first book that she can read by herself. The page with the 'spaghetti kiss' is her very favorite. We picked a four leaf clover the other day, and she ran in to press it in her favorite book. Thank you Billy Crystal - we're looking forward to reading your next!
